The X Factor Ripped By Parents Group Over Geo Godley Exposing Himself
The Parents Television Council is going after Fox for airing The X Factor auditions in which Geo Godley dropped his pants and did a dance.
Godleys exhibitionism left Simon Cowell stunned and Paula Abdul sick, and the PTC watchdog group is unhappy that the segment even made it into the show.
If Godley performed his act in public, he would have been arrested, says the organizations president, Tim Winter. But if he performs it in front of a Fox camera, his act is beamed via the public airwaves into every home in the nation.
The organization has filed an indecency complaint with the Federal Communications Commision (FCC), expressing outrage at Godleys antics and Foxs decision to broadcast them.
While a digitally imposed X partially covered Mr. Godleys genitals, the scene lingered on his nudity while editing in the shocked responses of the judges and other members of the audience, writes PTC public policy director Dan Isett.
He continues, Families were led to believe The X Factor would be family-friendly programming and instead were assaulted by graphic nudity.
Isett is especially outraged because the content was not live.
Godleys performance included prolonged, un-fleeting nudity used to shock the audience. The program did not air live, so every second was carefully edited by the Fox network and cannot be attributed to a mistake, says Isett.
What do you think?
Does the PTC have a point? Should Fox have aired it?
