The Help Expected To Win Weekend
Theaters are packed with new movies this weekend but not audiences.
According to early estimates, holdovers The Help and Rise of the Planet of the Apes will stay on top of the heap, with a number of disappointing debuts filling out the rest of the chart.
The Help is on pace for $20 million and the victory, with James Francos Apes tracking toward $16 million and #2.
After that, things get confusing.
Spy Kids 4D should open to roughly $13 million, enough to debut ahead of Conan The Barbarians $11 million estimate.
But surprise hit The Smurfs ($9 million) could top vampireColin Farrell and Fright Night ($8.5 million) for fifth place.
Meanwhile, the new Anne Hathaway romance, One Day, will struggle to keep pace with holdovers Final Destination 5 ($7.5 million) and 30 Minutes Or Less ($6 million).
As of now, One Day and Crazy, Stupid, Love will battle for 9th place with estimates in the $5 million neighborhood.
Gossip Cop will have updates.
