Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and Backstreet Boys pose a threat to China, that countrys ministry of culture has determined.

Those artists along with Beyonce,Britney Spears and others find their work on a list of 100 songs that Chinese music websites have until September 15 to remove for being in poor taste and vulgar.

Outlets that do not comply with the ban face prosecution.

Six Gaga tracks, including The Edge of Glory and Judas, are cited, as well as Perrys Last Friday Night and Spears Burning Up.

Run the World (Girls) from Beyonce is also prohibited from online distribution, along with I Want It That Way, a Backstreet Boys hit from 12 years ago.

This is the third year China has released a list of banned songs.

There is no published criteria for how a track gets listed, but the Chinese government insists that the content has to be cleared with them before music sites can post it.

Many of the blacklisted songs come from Far East pop stars, but other Western acts like Owl City and Natalie Walker find themselves on the outlawed list, too.
