Amy Winehouses Dad: She Was the Happiest She Has Been in Years

Amy Winehouses father Mitch says the fact that his daughter was happy at the time of her deathhas made his suffering a bit more manageable.

Winehouse said in a statement today, She was the happiest she has been for years.She was not depressed. She saw [her mom]Janis and [her boyfriend]Reg [Traviss] on Friday and was in good spirits. That night, she was in her room, playing drums and singing.

He explains, Knowing that she wasnt depressed, knowing that she passed away happy it makes us all feel better.

Winehouse also says his daughter had beat her drug addiction, although she was still trying to overcome her alcohol problem.

Three years ago, Amy conquered her drug dependency, he said. The doctors said it was impossible, but she really did it. She was trying hard to deal with her drinking and had just completed three weeks of abstinence.

He adds that his daughter was happy with her boyfriend, and was looking forward to their future together.
