Pal: J.Lo split long time coming - Boston Herald
American Idol diva Jennifer Lopez split with Hubby No. 3 Marc Anthony came as no surprise to one local Hollywood type who saw the celebrity couples tempestuous tete-a-tetes firsthand a few years back.
The fighting was epic, said our set spy. The screaming, the yelling ... One night Marc got so mad he chartered a jet in the middle of the night to fly to New York and by the time he landed they had made up. Talk about a $100,000 mistake!
The couple called it quits last week after seven years and two kids twins Emme and Max, 3. Their publicists were unavailable yesterday to comment.
I thought maybe it took a few years to get out the kinks, and then the kids came, but this is a couple that should be divorced, said our spywitness.
The source, who met Lopez before her 2004 marriage to the small salsa singer, said reports that Anthony was involved in all his wifes business decisions, performances, and even wardrobe appear on target.
Yesterday, US Weekly reported that the Latin crooner didnt want his wife, who the mag named as Style Icon of the Decade in 2010, to dress provocatively for the photo shoot. Anthony objected to the steamy snaps of his bride because they were too sexy and unbecoming for a 40-year-old mother of two, the magazine reported.
Our source added that he believes J.Lo would have had a heck of a movie resume Gigli doesnt count if she hadnt followed Anthonys career advice.
The Bronx bombshell burned up the screen in 1998 when she played opposite George Clooney in Steven Soderberghs Out of Sight. But nearly every movie shes made since getting married has been a soft romantic comedy (i.e. The Back-Up Plan) to mostly tepid reviews, our spy pointed out.
He didnt let her breathe, said our source. Im sure it was the same on American Idol.
Anthony also replaced many of her former advisers with his own people, the source said, and, when he finally married his dream girl in 04, he even insisted that she put her haute home on the block because she once lived there with former fiance, Ben Affleck.
File Under: Enough?
