Chilean Miners Strike Movie Deal



The Chilean miners amazing rescue story is headed to the big screen.

Black Swan Producer Mike Medavoy has acquired the film rights to the story, with Oscar nominated screenwriter Jose Rivera (Motorcycle Diaries) signed on to adapt the movie.

The 33 miners captured the worlds attention when they were dramatically rescued after being trapped underground for more than two months.

Medavoy said in a statement, At its heart, this is a story about the triumph of the human spirit and a testament to the courage and perseverance of the Chilean people. I cant think of a better story than this one to bring to the screen.

The film will go into production next year.

At one point, Brad Pitts production company, Plan B Entertainment,expressed an interest in buying the film rights.
