Did Beyonce Copy Countdown Dance?

Beyonces new video for Countdown initially turned heads for showing off the performers baby bump, but now there seems to be controversy brewing with the choreography itself.

A number of outlets are pointing out some similarities between Countdown and a video made by Belgian choreographer Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker.

Theres a brief YouTube video offering a side-by-side comparison of the two works.

Check out the video below!

While theres no denying the stylistic and choreographic overlap, its also worth noting that Beyonce has acknowledged borrowing from other artists dances in the past.

Its also true that the Countdown video openly references a number of pop culture touchstones (like Flashdance and Funny Face) that are more immediately recognizable to American viewers than De Keersmaekers work.
